Who pays, me or my players?
Only the host. Your account covers the whole table, and your players just need Discord. They play free, forever, and never install a thing.
What do I need to start?
A Discord server, a free Tavernbard account, and your own AI subscription. The story runs on the AI you already pay for; Tavernbard adds the engine: the dice, the rules, and a memory the AI cannot fudge.
Which AI do I need?
Whichever you like. Tavernbard runs inside your own AI subscription, so you always play on the best model you can reach. We never route you through a weaker model or cap how much you can play.
What systems can we play?
All major tabletop systems work out of the box, and campaign modules teach your game master any homebrew or custom ruleset, from high fantasy to hard science fiction.
What happens if the party wipes?
Checkpoint before the boss and roll back on demand. Campaign state is versioned, so a total party kill is a plot twist, not a funeral.
Can I play alone?
Yes. Solo mode runs a full campaign right in your terminal, with the same honest mechanics as a full table.
