The Tavernbard host app runs your table from your own machine. Sign in, pick your Discord server and channel, and your friends play while your AI narrates. No terminal, no config files.
What it does
- Seats the game master. It runs the AI tool you already pay for, on your machine, on your own subscription. We never route you through a weaker model, and we never see your AI login.
- Connects your Discord channel in three clicks. Press Connect, pick the server, pick the channel. Nothing is typed in Discord.
- Keeps the table live. Close the window and it moves to the tray or menu bar. Your players keep playing.
What you need
- Windows 10 or later, or macOS 10.15 or later.
- A free Tavernbard account. You sign in inside the app, and it sets up your API key for you.
- An AI tool you already use and pay for. The app checks whether it is installed and walks you through it if not.
- A Discord server with a channel to play in, and permission to add a bot to it.
Your players need none of this. They open Discord and mention the bard.
Prefer the terminal?
The app is the no-terminal path, not the only one. If you already live in your AI tool's CLI, install the Tavernbard plugin instead and run /tavernbard:host. Both paths host the same table; the setup guide covers each one.
