Terms of Service
Last updated: 11 August 2026
These Terms govern your use of Tavernbard (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
What Tavernbard is
Tavernbard is a game engine for tabletop roleplaying campaigns: it keeps the mechanical truth (dice, characters, combat, campaign memory, and save points) and exposes it to the AI assistant you already use. The storytelling is produced by your own third-party AI subscription; Tavernbard does not provide the AI and does not control what it writes.
Your account
- One account runs a whole table. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account and API keys.
- Keep your credentials and
bard_live_API keys private. Treat a key like a password; you can rotate or revoke keys at any time from the Billing & keys page. - You must be old enough to enter a binding contract in your country to hold an account.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for anything unlawful, or to store unlawful content;
- probe, disrupt, or try to bypass the isolation between accounts, the rate limits, or the usage limits of your plan;
- resell or sublicense the Service, or use it to build a competing service;
- overload, scrape, or automate the Service beyond normal play in a way that degrades it for others.
Your content
Campaigns, characters, histories, and save points you create are yours. You grant Tavernbard the limited permission needed to store, process, and display that content back to you so the Service can run. You are responsible for the content you and your players put into the Service. You can delete a campaign, and all of its content, at any time from the website.
Story submissions
If you send us a story through the Share your story page, you are offering it to us as marketing material, and you confirm it is your own experience to share. By submitting and ticking the consent box, you give Tavernbard a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to share, lightly edit, and adapt the story on our social channels, website, and videos. You choose whether we credit you by a name or handle you provide, or keep you anonymous, and we will honor that choice. Submitting is voluntary and unpaid, and you can ask us to stop using your story or remove it at any time by emailing contact@tavernbard.com.
The AI you bring
Tavernbard works with the AI assistant and subscription you choose. Your use of that AI is governed by that provider's own terms, and any fees for it are between you and that provider. Tavernbard is not responsible for AI output, availability, or costs.
Plans and billing
A free plan is available. Paid plans are billed in advance through our payment processor. Cancellation and refunds are covered by the Refund & Cancellation Policy. We may change plan features or prices; changes to a price take effect at your next renewal, and we will give reasonable notice.
Availability and changes
Tavernbard is offered on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind. The Service is under active development; features may change, and the Service may have downtime or be discontinued. We aim to give notice of significant changes where we reasonably can.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tavernbard is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits, or campaigns. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if these Terms are breached or if use of the Service puts it or its other users at risk.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the European Union and the country in which the Service is operated, without regard to conflict of law rules. Consumer protection rights that apply where you live are not affected.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the date above and, for material changes, give notice through the Service. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
